Intermedia Expands into Switch and Data East Coast Data Center to Increase Geographic Diversity and Network Resiliency

TAMPA, Fla. - Oct. 7, 2009 -- Switch and Data (NASDAQ:SDXC), a leading provider of network-neutral data center and Internet exchange services, announced today that Intermedia, the leading hosted Microsoft Exchange provider, has added a Switch and Data site on the East Coast as its fourth data center to support its growing Microsoft Exchange hosting business. This new site adds geographic diversity and network resiliency to allow Intermedia to meet the unprecedented demand of small- and medium-sized businesses for a hosted email solution that offers enterprise-grade performance and reliability.

“More than 200,000 business people rely on us for their hosted Exchange mailboxes. When selecting a colocation provider on the East Coast, Switch and Data's site was the obvious choice as it offers Intermedia high-density power and a 99.999% SLA on our Exchange hosting business,” said Jonathan McCormick, COO of Intermedia. “With our coast-to-coast presence, our customers can feel confident about the high-quality and reliable services we provide.”

Intermedia is also using Switch and Data's TechSmart® remote technical support services to simplify its geographic expansion. TechSmart, which is available at every Switch and Data colocation site, offers prescheduled technical support services as well as its Rapid-Response Service. Service features include: remote hands services, complete equipment installations, power on and off, equipment reboots and equipment monitoring. TechSmart makes it easy for companies to scale their geographic footprint while minimizing time and travel demands on its own network support team.

“Intermedia focuses on providing a high-quality infrastructure to its customers, and we are pleased that they have selected one of our East Coast data centers to host their newest environment,” said Ernie Sampera, Senior Vice President and CMO for Switch and Data. “Switch and Data provides Intermedia, a world-class facility with N 1 power, cooling, security and some of the best network connectivity on the East Coast. Our 24x7 remote technical support provides the routine maintenance and timely problem resolution necessary to deliver the best possible uptime for Intermedia's customers.”

Intermedia selected a Switch and Data site which is supplied with more than 20 megawatts of power with full N 1 redundancy for its UPS, generator and cooling infrastructure. Switch and Data has also interconnected this new site with its existing data centers in the market, providing access to more than 400 networks and making it one of the most densely-interconnected data centers in North America.
